Abstract
In recent years, the quality of life of patients after RC, especially preservation of erection and continence, has been taken into consideration. Nerve‐sparing techniques in this surgery could result in better erectile function and quality of life.1 New surgical instruments, such as the LigaSure device (Covidien, Norwalk, CT, USA) and the Endo GIA Stapler (Ethicon Endo‐Surgery Inc, Cincinnati, OH, USA), have been designed and developed over the past few years in an effort to reduce surgical complications.2, 3 The beneficial merits of applying these two techniques (LigaSure device and GIA Stapler) for ligation of bladder pedicles in RC have been compared in previous studies.4 However, theoretically, using the LigaSure for vascular pedicle ligation might cause unintended heat harm to the neurovascular bundles adjacent to pedicles.5, 6 Preservation of these bundles in men is necessary for erection.
