Abstract
The most common problems among infants are excessive crying, and feeding and sleeping problems, which may occur individually or together. These are called regulatory problems. Studies have determined that infant regulatory problems can affect parenting quality and childhood atten- tion problems. They emphasised using some sleep interventions and supporting mothers’ breast feeding.1–3 The purposes of this study were to improve health providers’ knowledge on regulatory problems from birth to 11 months of age and to assess the influence of any problems on maternal mental health and the parent–child relationship. Notably, the three infancy periods and problems are well detailed and assessed. With adequate maternal mental health and improved parenting quality, fewer problems were found when paying attention to the child.4 Parents need preventive guidance and support to cope with multiple crying, sleeping and feeding problems
