Abstract

Background and aim: several reviews concluded that patients with a history of treated chronic periodontitis (CP) exhibited significantly greater long-term probing depth (PD) and marginal bone loss and a higher incidence of peri implantitis compared with periodontally healthy patients (PHPs). The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was evaluate long-term outcomes of patients with periodontitis submitted to periodontal therapy and implant placement. Methods: MEDLINE, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, ISI, google scholar were used as electronic databases to perform a systematic literature between 2010 to 2019. A commercially available software program (Endnote X9) was used for electronic title management. The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) reporting guidelines are followed in the systematic review. Systematic evaluation of five selected studies was performed in order to prepare the study protocol. Data extraction forms were constructed after the initial results of the search. Results: FMPS and FMBS at the time of reevaluation before implant placement was £27. Lower percentage of implant survival rate compared with the PHP group and the PCP group presented higher mean BL and in studies (RR=1: z= 1.41 p = 0.158). Conclusions: Implant therapy can be successfully used in patients with a diagnosis of periodontitis. © 2020, Advanced Scientific Research. All rights reserved.
