Abstract

Posterior scleritis is an uncommon and often misdiagnosed form of scleral inflammation. On account of its low prevalence, it has been difficult to determine the clinical features, systemic associations, and outcomes of this disease [1], [2]. The causes of posterior scleritis can be idiopathic or associated with systemic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener's granulomatosis) [2], [3]. Scleritis normally occurs in patients with Behçet's disease, but is rarely reported in the literature. To the best of our knowledge, there is only one published report of posterior scleritis associated with Behçet's disease to date [4]. In the present report, a patient developed posterior scleritis in the course of Behçet's disease without any retinal vasculitis in her history.
