Abstract

Core-shell nanoparticles and nanostructures show unique advantages, such as high thermal/chemical stabilities, high permeability, low toxicity, improved solubility, and enhanced specificity for target cells. Different approaches have been applied for manufacturing these nanoparticles, including hydrothermal coprecipitation, chemical vapor deposition, the solvothermal approach, the Stober method, combustion waves, greener methods, biological methods, etc. In this chapter, some examples of core-shell nanoparticle production methods as well as their important applications (especially in agriculture and the environment) are briefly highlighted. © 2020 Elsevier Inc.
