Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of combining laboratory tests and CT scans in predicting acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with COVID-19. Methods: During this study, 130 patients with both acute kidney injury (AKI) and COVID were selected. Various laboratory and CT scan factors were evaluated in these patients. The results of these tests were evaluated through statistical analysis, considering the patients' gender, age, and status. Results: Here, the majority of patients were men (79-83) and over the age of 60 (83-87). Besides, more than 60 of patients died. Results showed a high mortality risk in AKI-COVID patients (65.4). Results of chest CT scan findings showed ground glass opacity (86.9), cardiomegaly (56.2), consolidation (45.4), pleural effusion (36.9), nodular opacity (25.4), reticular opacity (20.8), and lymphadenopathy (17.7) as the most prevalent observations. Laboratory results showed about a 26 relationship between the presence of reticular opacity and the likelihood of mortality. Conclusion: According to the above results, we couldn't find any significant relationship between laboratory and CT tests of COVID patients and the occurrence of AKI, which could be used for early AKI prediction in COVID patients. It is important to note that these results are based on a small sample size of patients and may vary depending on the number and demographics of the population studied.
