Quantifying the Approvals and Practices of Ethics Committees in Health Networks: Policy Strategies

Abstract

professional ethics committees are supervisory-consultative entities that bear responsibility for promotion, monitoring and evaluation of observance of ethical principles in health system and play an important role in realization of ethical values and improving the quality of health care services.This policy brief is based on the findings of a cross-sectional study with the aim of presenting strategies for quantifying the approvals and actions of these committees on the level of health networks in Isfahan and improving their effectiveness.Based on the results of the study, four policy options including formulation of the effectiveness indicators of ethics committees, of registration system and electronic evaluation of legislations, upgrading the knowledge and knowledge of officials and members of committees, localization of practical programs tailored to the cultural-cultural context of cities" were studied.Analysis of administrative barriers showed that each of these options with specific challenges such as cultural and geographical diversity of cities, lack of technical infrastructure, shortage of specialist instructors, resistance to change current trends, and shortage of resources in cities.according to the proposed considerations, prioritization of alternatives is suggested in the first step in order to improve the knowledge and knowledge of the authorities and their committees, then codification of the effectiveness indicators of ethics committees, after that implementation of registration system and electronic evaluation of legislations, in the later stages, localization of practical programs tailored to the cultural-cultural context of cities should be reviewed and action.Supply of sufficient financial resources and human resources and the design of continuous monitoring and evaluation system is also necessary for program efficiency. © 2026, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences(IUMS).
