Assessment of the Elderly Satisfaction with Health System Services Offered by Health Care Centers of Isfahan City, Iran

Abstract

Background: The aging population in most societies has led to an increased focus on healthcare services for the elderly. To ensure the quality of services, it is crucial to monitor and evaluate these services effectively. This study aimed at assessing the satisfaction level of the elderly visiting health centers in Isfahan City, Iran, regarding the services they receive. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted among 385 elderly people who visited health centers in Isfahan City in 2023. Sampling was done using random sampling method with an interval of 5. A 49-item researcher-made questionnaire assessing the elderly's satisfaction with the services provided in the centers was applied to collect data. Data were analyzed using independent samples t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), Bonferroni, Mann-Whitney, and Kruskal-Wallis statistical tests via SPSS software. Findings: The average age of the participants was 66.41 ± 6.43 years, consisting of 256 women and 129 men. The highest level of satisfaction was associated with how healthcare providers delivered care, while the lowest level was related to the condition of restrooms in healthcare facilities. Conclusion: The clients' overall satisfaction with health centers was favorable. However, there were specific areas where improvements could be made to enhance client satisfaction. Notably, the condition of restrooms and the availability of equipment for measuring blood lipids, glucose, and supplemental pills were identified as areas of concern. It is recommended that higher-level organizations take appropriate measures to ensure that these health centers are adequately equipped to meet the needs of their clients. © 2026, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences(IUMS).
