Abstract

A novel and efficient graphene oxide derivatives-catalyzed cyanosilylation of aldehydes was developed using trimethylsilyl cyanide (TMSCN) as the cyanide source under metal-free and ultrasound irradiation. In this important reaction, the C-C and O-Si bonds were formed without transition metal. The corresponding cyanohydrin trimethylsilyl ethers were obtained in good to excellent yields. In addition, the catalyst was reusable for six catalytic cycles without remarkable decreasing in its activity.
